"To be alive is to be broken, and to be broken is to stand in the need of grace"
I think one thing that I have struggled with as I entered college was my faith. Now that isn't something I like to outright admit to people, because I have always been one to claim being a Christian, and be proud in the foundation with which I based my life on.
But as I entered college had struggled with why God would let me become so broken, so torn down and defeated. I am now almost done with my first semester of college, and think that I have come to a realization:
But as I entered college had struggled with why God would let me become so broken, so torn down and defeated. I am now almost done with my first semester of college, and think that I have come to a realization:
God doesn't want us to be broken, but sometimes that is the only way that he can get to us.
The word brokenness might strike fear in some people, because really who wants to be considered "broken" but it isn't God's desire to break out spirits, but our outer shell. He wants to break the very thing that is keeping him from being all He can through and in us. He wants to break things such as selfishness, and pride. God wants us, as his children, to be totally dependent on him, and for some reason suffering seems to bring us to that point.
I think, that we as humans, are always surprised and somewhat resentful that we must go through times of trial, and hardship. I know for me that is so true. I have always been one who struggled with the why to the things God would put me through. But next time a trial comes your way do not run from it, but embrace it because while it may lead to brokenness, it will ultimately lead to so much joy, for you will have God living within you, and leading your life.
But as the bible says, “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). We as humans see broken things are things that are to be despised, but God does not see it that way, He is one who takes the broken and makes them new, better, something that can be used for His GLORY.
Broken people, things, are the result of sin. But God, God sent his only son to earth to be broken so that we might be HEALED. Guys, just take a moment and think about how cool that is. That God would send his only son so that we could become healed. His death has made it possible for broken, sinful humanity to be reconciled to God and be healed. Because with out the broken body of Jesus, we as humans could not have been made whole.
In order to be transformed in Christ, we must first be broken.
So go on now,
be broken so that you may stand in the need of grace
