i am a firm believer in letting the ones i love know they are loved.
being loved is such a great experience, it fills you up with such joy and happiness. I've always been someone who will shoot a random, "i love you, you rock" text to a friend, even if we hadn't spoken for a little while, because i believe that it is the small things like that that make the biggest change.
Just the other day, i got a text from a friend that read, "nat i misssss youuuu" it was out of the blue, random, but it made me feel so loved. Love isn't always something that is expressed with the words, "i love you" but more so with just the small daily reminders of friendship. like a text in the morning, saying have a good day, or an i miss you text.
Or randomly buying your friend a chocolate milk because you know she loves it. The small things add up to form an even bigger thing.
I think in todays world we are lead to believe that a lot of the time love is bought with money. and while buying your friends favorite drink cost money, it isn't the money that makes the gift special but the idea behind the gift, like knowing it was one of her favorite drinks, and just deciding to pick one up for her to have on the way to class.
Money doesn't buy love, it might buy momentary love, but in the long run, it's the small things, texts, hugs, i love you's and small moments of laughter, that make people love you.
Even if my friends never bought me anything, i would still love them simply because of what they do to better my life, and make me happy. Friendship is a two way road, that takes effort, and time. Money doesn't account for effort, or time. It simply accounts for laziness, and wanting love, friendship, but not wanting to make the effort to achieve that.
So in simple words, love your friends, show them they are loved, and if you spend a little money along the way then you do, but don't base your friendships, or the love you dish out on money. because if you do that you'll find yourself very lonely very quick.
