I am doing a devotional right now that is all about the women In the New Testaments of the bible. This one was yesterdays, and it is one that spoke to me on a deep level.
This is a story about a father who pleads with Jesus to bring is dead daughter back to him.
And while in this story the father is referring to a literal death, for me it speaks of a spiritual death.
We don’t know anything about the daughter, was she a follower, a believer? We might not ever know. All we know is that Jesus called her to arise, and she did. Is that was Jesus is calling you to do, arise?
For me the answer isn’t a simple yes, nor a simple no. it’s a complex yes, as I haven’t really “died” but more so fallen behind. I have neglected my prayers, and my reading. I have focused more on me, than on the Lord.
Just last week I started my devotionals, thanks to a friend who told me about it.
I love how little we know about the story, about who she was, because it speaks volumes about our savior. That he would save us, and love us despite our past, and who we were.
What you did last night, last week, last year, or even years ago doesn’t define you. Your sin, that does not define you.
YOU ARE EVERYTHING YOU ARE BECAUSE JESUS BROUGHT YOU BACK.
Nothing in your life is too dead, to broken, or to lost for Jesus to find you and bring you back. You, my friend, are everything you are because Jesus told you to arise. He told you that you were loved, and he wants you in His family.
The fact that Jesus doesn’t include our backstory in our future with him, is so awesome because we as humans are prone to sin. And no matter how hard I may try to live with out sin, it is inevitable. So the fact that Jesus loves me despite my countless flaws, and millions of mistakes makes me just sit in awe of this awesome Father and Friend we have.
So when Jesus calls you to arise, will you?
